to the desk. >>> we begin with breaking news from oakland. police are investigating three homicides. there are two different scenes. one in oakland. one in west oakland and one in east oakland. ktvu alex savidge is live on walnut street. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning. the sergeant here on scene told me in this case a woman was found stabbed to death early this morning. officers are still out here on scene. you can see a couple patrol cars parked out here on this street. the stabbing happened inside this apartment building in a second floor unit. we'll show you video we shot a short time ago. this is all taking place in the 5800 block of walnut. neighbors called 911 just about two hours ago. around 2:30 this morning. when officers aryed here on scene they went inside this unit and found this woman with multiple stab wounds and she died here on scene. a sergeant told me a short time ago police do have a possible suspect. a man in custody at this point. they are not saying much about who this person is. and the motive at least at this point according to the sergeant rem

determined he had been shot. police say there is no evidence the killing is gang related. >>> in oakland a $10,000 reward is being offered in that city's latest homicide. someone shot and kill the a man on 83rd avenue and d street yesterday afternoon. the victim a 49-year-old man died at the scene. no one has been arrested and the motive is still under investigation. but this is oakland's 122nd homicide that compares to 105 at the same time last year. >>> oakland police are teaming up with their san francisco counterparts to get guns off the streets. they will be hosting a gun buy back program from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.. in oakland drop offs can be made at st. benedicts church and in san francisco at the omega boy's club. >>> police in vallejo are warning people to watch out for fake ipads this holiday shopping season. the warning comes after officers uncovered a stash of fake apple boxes like the one we are showing you there in or picture. instead of ipads the boxes contained black picture frames. the fake devices had an apple cut out logo and wrapped in bubble tape to confuse buyers

customers are without power off the 580 east in oakland and they say the power started as they crashed into a power pole right there. let's look at what we saw when we got closer to that crash. the driver of the nissan altima was going left when she crashed. she kept going yet crashed into another vehicle. she spun out, hit that power pole splashed it in half and knocked out power to 6,000 customers. that driver left the scene and police are looking for her this morning. pg&e will try to get power to a couple hundred customers in the next 30 minutes so it will be just a few dozen without power but those people will be without power until the late morning hours so it is going to be a very dark morning for many customers this morning at least 40 customers for the next five or six hours. lorraine blanco ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> well heavy rain pounded the bay area. the storm caused flooding on freeways. there was a accident as -- an accident in the caldecott tunnel and many responded during the rain storm. >> with any type of collision on the roadway where there is water it is typ

of oakland. the chp says the driver got on to interstate 880 toward oakland after failing to stop for a traffic violation. the chase lasted for several hours before the driver got off the freeway and stopped by spike strips near mountain view cemetery in piedmont. >>> all lanes have reopened on highway 580 in richmond. that is following a fatal accident. the chp says the pedestrian was hit and killed around 8:30 last night on westbound 580. authorities still looking into why the person was walking on the freeway. the big rig driver is cooperating. >>> two hours from now, the supreme court may announce whether it will reveal proposition 8. california's ban on same sex marriages. they met behind closed doors on friday. but prop 8 was not on the list. the court is set to release a number of cases at 6:30 this morning. and if the justices decline to review prop 8 that will let stand an appeals court ruling. same sex marriage could be legal again in california for days. >>> with less than a month to go it appears congress is no closer to keeping a country from going over that cliff. th

and oakland and also if you are driving this morning on northbound 101 approaching the 880 split, that traffic does look good > she was struck by a bullet walking down the street. live with more on the investigation into her death, tara? >>> they are looking into who took the life into an innocent bystander and it is the latest on what happened around 7:00 when a woman was walking to the store on the 9100 block when she was caught in the crossfire when there were two people on the other side of the street. the 49-year-old grandmother was walking with a relative when she was struck with the bullet. a long time friend knew her and said she lived just four blocks from the store and cared for her elderly mother. police are trying to figure out what caused this fight and left 12 shell casings. after that more gunfire erupted. a man was injured and he was later transported to hyland hospital. police told ktvu channel 2 morning news they do not believe the two shootings were related. coming up, we will tell you where the homicide stands this year. tara moriarty ktvu channel 2 morning news. >>> firef
